The time for the Formula 18 Tour of Europe is here. The F18 European Tour, which is a combined effort of all European F18 Associations will once again test the mettle of sailors and builders, in one of the most competitive multihull sailing competitions. The competition seeks to promote racing and travelling of the F18 Class around Europe. The main purpose of this tour is to encourage international participation.
The tour through Europe will have 13 events, and any sailor who enters in any one event would be automatically included in the Tour. The three best attempts of any sailor are considered in their overall score. The scoring system is such that the sailors' achievements at any event and at any finishing position would be factored in. The focus will be on keeping the tour such that it is easily accessible and the expenses involved are minimal. The sailors will be judged on the individual as well as crew achievements and there will be separate categories for women, mixed, youth, masters and club sailors.
The Tour of 2012 has been spaced throughout Europe. These events will be held in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the UK, Hungary, and Spain. The first event is to be held at EuroCat Carnac in France from 28 April to 01 May, and the last would be held at Canarias Week Las Palmas, at the Gran Canaria, from 05 Dec to 09 Dec, 2012.

Go Ahead reports profits of GBP16.5million in Q2 2011 from running train services in Southern, Southeastern and London Midland. This explains the 25% surge in profits of the biggest train operator of Britain. The gain comes after passengers were slapped with a 6% increase in train fares last January.
Manuel Cortes, Leader of the TSSA rail union, remarks that it is not surprising that Go Ahead is profiting given that U.K. passengers are paying the highest train fares in Europe. Group Chief Executive, David Brown, explains that continuing growth across all of their businesses justifies the train fare with the public seeking high quality, convenient and value for money alternatives to private cars. A Green Flag survey shows that the cost of commuting by car rocketed by 21% last year propelled by high insurance premiums and fuel prices. Brown says this has enabled them to earn more profitability on their bus services too, with revenue up 4.7%. In bus, their strategic focus of operating in urban areas combined with local management and marketing is continuing to deliver passenger growth.
Brown declares that Go Ahead is now preparing for the Olympics. They will be running buses in London and Weymouth in addition to operating the Olympic Javelin shuttle services using their high speed Southeastern trains.
